September Crop Report

Here’s this week’s Crop & Field Report from our PCAs: storm-timing watches, table-grape and almond updates, pistachio harvest conditions, and citrus pest and fertility notes from across the Central Valley.

• Storm-Timing Watch: Keep an eye on the forecast window mid-month — hold off on sprays where rain is likely within 24 hours and reassess residue intervals after any rain event.

• Table Grapes & Almonds: Harvest is in full swing on early table-grape blocks; watch sugar/acid ratios closely as temperatures shift. Almond hull split is wrapping up in most Valley blocks — prioritize timely shakes to limit navel orangeworm exposure.

• Pistachio Harvest: Shaking continues across the district; keep collection crews ahead of hull rot risk in dense canopy blocks and monitor split-nut percentages before finishing passes.

• Citrus Pest & Fertility: PCAs are seeing early-season Asian citrus psyllid pressure in scattered blocks — scout new flush closely. Post-harvest fertility programs should go out now to support next season’s bloom.
